You could volunteer for the Greenathon as a volunteer comrade who would help the cause of a Clean Yamuna. The event marks a coming together of the Citizenry of the entire nation, including Students and the Youth, Environmental Groups and NGOs as well as business Houses. The event will have a wider impact given its LIVE Telecast by Media Partners NDTV- taking the call from India to the rest of the world to Green the Planet.

Swechha in partnership with Toyota- NDTV will hold the first ever 24 hour marathon Clean-Up Drive for the Yamuna on the 7^th and 8^th of February 2009.

The event, a part of the Toyota- NDTV Environment Campaign, is the first of its kind, with thousands people doing a Relay Clean-Up of the river banks alongside other interesting Environmental Events in Delhi ,Mumbai, Chandigarh and Chennai.The Marathon Clean-up, a part of a Telethon called the 'Greenathon' hosted by NDTV with activities ongoing at Mumbai and Delhi alongside.Noted celebrities and Environmentalists of the four cities will support the Green Event on the 7^th and 8^th in through Plantations, Live Call-in Chats, Concerts etc.The Delhi event will have a continuous Clean Up of a section of the river banks at Kudsia Ghat, Kashmere Gate along with Concerts by Youth Groups, Film Screenings, Photo Exhibitions and much more.In Chandigarh School Students will run a Green Marathon for the event, while artists in Chennai will make beautiful structures from Sand in solidarity with the environment. 

About the Clean- Up,Delhi:
Swechha has been organizing symbolic Clean-Up Drives of the river Yamuna for the last seven years. This will be the 8^th large Clean-Up for Swechha , and it is in partnership with NDTV and Toyota.A Clean Up is a simple and effective way to bring the cause of the Yamuna back to the mind map of the citizens and government of the nation. It is also an easy way to elicit hands-on participation from the Citizenry, thereby reducing the number of people who'd drop their garbage into the river and increase a Green Workforce.In the past, Swechha has worked with the UNDP, Society of Child Development, Vasant Valley and several other Schools and Institutions to involve students from Schools and Colleges as well as from Corporates in taking responsibility for the damage we together cause. 

Marathon Clean- Up Activities, Delhi:

The 24 hour Relay Clean Up on Kudsia Ghat will involve several activities to suit the interest and fun levels of a wide audience.

·         Film Screenings: Screenings of Environmental films for interested people at the Clean-Up site

·         Music Concerts: Concerts by Youth Bands along the Clean Up

·         Celebrity Visits: Visits and talks by important celebrities and eminent environmentalists

·         Photo Exhibition: Exhibition of pictures on the Yamuna

·         Graffiti Canvas: A space for all of us to express ourselves and speak to the river…

·         Monument of Waste: Constructing a monument or structure from the waste that is fished out of the banks

All these activities of course, will accompany the relay Clean Up. We hope to leave a visibly clean Kudsia Ghat on the 7^th and 8^th of February 2009.
